Caroline Sartain

Principal Scientist at Fulcrum Therapeutics

Caroline Sartain has extensive work experience in the field of scientific research. Caroline currently holds the position of Principal Scientist at Fulcrum Therapeutics, which they began in July 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Scientist at Torpedo Diagnostics from August 2018 to April 2019, where they developed sequencing-based assays and optimized library prep workflows. From February 2017 to July 2018, they served as an R&D Scientist at Good Start Genetics. Before that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Washington State University from October 2013 to January 2017, conducting research on the effects of Bisphenol-A (BPA) exposure on oocyte meiosis. Caroline obtained their Ph.D. in Genetics & Development from Cornell University, where they focused on RNA regulation during gametogenesis and egg activation in Drosophila Melanogaster. Additionally, they gained experience as a Research Assistant at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, studying the role of Prox1 in pancreas organogenesis, and at Rhodes College, identifying genetic loci required for fungal cell wall integrity.

Caroline Sartain obtained their B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Rhodes College, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Caroline then pursued higher education at Cornell University, completing their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genetics from 2007 to 2013.
