About the role

As a Dry Dock Maintenance Engineer, you will be reporting into the Project Manager. Working within our passenger ferry fleet, your role will be to ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of our vessels. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring there is minimal service disruptions to the network; through the diagnosis and resolution of targeted planned and unplanned maintenance. The role is Monday to Friday 7am to 3.30pm, with overtime and on-call work when needed.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Primarily conducting deep level maintenance as part of the Dry Dock and preventative maintenance program.

  • Conduct in-depth inspections, maintenance tasks and repairs on vessel mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

  • Troubleshoot and fault find issues to effect permanent repairs.

  • Liaising with various internal stakeholders on all aspects of the job.

  • Parts and inventory management.

  • Contribute to preventative maintenance plans by generating detailed reports and documenting maintenance activities.

  • Support the On Water Maintenance team and Response and Recovery team and external contractors as required.

  • Participate in the on call roster.

  • Document maintenance activities in CMMS.

About you

You will bring a high level of hands on technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be able to work autonomously conducting complex maintenance tasks and vessel repairs utilising your previous knowledge and experience to produce a high quality result.

Other key requirements that you will bring will include:

  • You will hold a relevant trade qualification, marine engineering ticket, diesel mechanic/engineering qualification.

  • Previous experience within the maritime industry is preferred.

  • Confident in conducting mechanical maintenance tasks on diesel engines, generators, vessel systems including bilges, pumps, fuel systems, transmission and hydraulic systems.

  • Be proficient at removing, dismantling, repairing, and reinstalling mechanical components such as propeller, shafts, pumps, actuators, and engine components.

  • Proactively ensuring you are responsible for you personal health and safety, and that your actions and behaviours don't put others at risk.

  • Work well in a team environment, with a passion for quality and a desire to complete the task right first time.
