 About the role

The main purpose of this exciting newly created role is to deliver new electric hybrid and electric vessel to Fullers Group Limited on behalf of Auckland Transport, working alongside other Project Team members and the wider maintenance team.  As the Marine Engineer, you will report into the New Build Portfolio Manager.

 Key responsibilities

  • Regularly liaising with shipyards, Fullers Group Limited operations and maintenance teams to confirmed detailed design and installation in line with industry standards.

  • Ensure documentation and drawings relating to detailed design and installation are complete and correct. Where deviations from original drawings are made ensure up to date ‘as builts’ are supplied

  • Engagement in quality management processes.

  • Manage day to day issues within the build program to ensure impact on overall schedule is kept to a minimum.

  • Ensure key external relationships are appropriately managed with surveyors, boatyards, suppliers and other relevant contractors engaged in project work for the company.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve and engineering issues that may arise during the build process.

About you

  • Relevant Marine Engineering qualification (MEC3 or MEC5) essential, an electrical qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • Previous marine engineering experience in vessel construction or shipyard environments.

  • Strong knowledge of marine systems , including propulsion systems, power generation, HVAC and stability

  • Ability to mentor and guide staff in best practice maintenance standards

  • Able to work 1 to 3 days per week from an external stakeholders site in Whanganui

  • Confident and knowledge in the Maritime New Zealand rules and regulations framework
