Damien Giurco

Damien Giurco currently serves as Program Leader for Circular Economy at Solving Plastic Waste CRC since June 2024. With extensive experience at the University of Technology Sydney, Damien has held multiple roles including Associate Director Research, Acting Director, Deputy Director of Research, Deputy Director of Engagement, and Professor of Resource Futures and Director of Innovation. As Theme Leader at the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre since January 2020, Damien has also previously led the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence as Director until March 2023. A Visiting Associate Professor at Kyoto University in late 2015, Damien spent a decade at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS, as Associate Professor and Research Director, as well as serving as a Senior Research Consultant/Research Principal. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, further complemented by a Company Directors Course from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Origini Diploma from MIB Trieste School of Management.
