Kiplinger is the leader in personal finance reporting. It’s the go-to destination for personal finance information in the U.S. providing advice on a range of topics including investing, tax, retirement planning and more.

What you'll be doing...

Kiplinger is looking for a retirement writer to cover the topic area for the brand’s website. The ideal candidate is familiar with topics including 401ks, IRAs, annuities, long-term care, estate planning and more and is passionate about informing people about how to set themselves up to thrive in retirement. You and compellingly, with an ability to break down complicated topics for a wide audience. 

Ideally, we want to hire someone who enjoys detail, writing about technical topics, and generating content regularly. The ideal candidate works well under occasional pressure, is focused and organized, and has a good eye for finance news and what makes a good story.

Key responsibilities:

  • Write and update 2-6 articles per day on topics including 401ks, IRAs, annuities, estate planning, and Medicare and Social Security
  • Pitch stories on retirement and maintain their own stack of evergreen articles, including following SEO best practices
  • Produce stories in the Kiplinger CMS
  • Write with clarity, accuracy, style and voice
  • Bring expertise to our readership to help them make the most of their finances

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...

  • At least 3-5 years of digital writing experience, with experience in retirement or personal finance
  • Enthusiasm for retirement planning and lifestyle
  • Awareness of news around finance and economics to inform writing
  • Curiosity and drive to learn about topics they’re not as familiar with but are relevant to Kiplinger readers
  • Understanding of SEO practices
  • Ability to respond to deadlines with high-quality content and write with clarity
  • Good attitude for teamwork in the remote working world
  • A proactive approach to data-driven writing and pitching, and some newsletter and/or social media experience, is a plus

Please note, the salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000

This is a Remote-based role.
