Brian Strydom

Senior Associate at FXCollaborative

As the firm's Digital Practice Manager, Brian is dedicated to developing and leading strategies around technology for FXCollaborative. Brian leads the firm's overall approach to Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a practice, and works with staff, project managers, and leadership to elevate the process, resources, and development. Brian is an officewide resource for BIM support and works closely with project teams and each project's BIM lead to determine larger strategies of modeling and organization.

Brian is fascinated by how the brain works, and studied psychology and sociology before working in the lighting industry and shifting to the field of architecture. While helping his father construct a house over the course of a summer, his curiosity—questioning consultants and contractors why things were done the way they were—exposed him to the creative aspects of architecture and led him to pursue his Bachelor of Architecture degree. Brian has devoted himself to BIM technology, appreciating its three-dimensional visual format and easy conveyance of information.

In addition to providing strategy and support for the firm's Digital Practice group, Brian has experience developing Revit-based projects and worked with FEMA on Super Storm Sandy relief efforts as the New York State Estimating Task Force Lead. Balancing between the creative and technological, Brian believes that BIM has fundamentally impacted the architecture industry and that the technology needs to be embraced for the industry to evolve.
