Neha Patel began their career in 2015 as an Intern at After School Matters. In 2016, they returned to After School Matters as an Intern where they recorded children's reading/play activities and helped librarians with miscellaneous tasks. In 2017, Neha Patel started as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Illinois Institute of Technology where they cultured hiPSC, imaged cells with electronic microscopes, and prepared solutions to maintain hiPSC. Neha also served as the Civil, Architectural, Environmental Engineering (CAEE) Department Receptionist, Co-Program Manager, and Chemistry Teaching Assistant. In 2022, Neha Patel joined Garuda Therapeutics as a Research Associate where they maintained, froze, and differentiated iPSC cultures into HSCs on a daily basis. Neha also executed functional assays such as flow cytometry and subsequent data analysis via FlowJo and Prism: GraphPad. Neha Patel also maintained inventory of critical reagents and supplies in lab space and performed animal care, reported on animal welfare, and executed vivarium operational activities. In 2022, Neha Patel also joined Open Avenues as a Student Consultant, Molecular Biology where they worked directly with Giorgia Scapin, PhD, Vice President of Research and Development at Garuda Therapeutics. Neha developed gene editing strategies for hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) for cellular therapies and designed a gene knockout and genotyping design for TAP1 gene using CRISPR / CAS9 system.
Neha Patel began their education in 2017 at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering. Neha is expected to graduate in 2022. In 2020, they began a Master's degree in Medical Devices and Biomaterials, which they are also expected to complete in 2022. In March of 2022, Neha obtained a Certified Peer Mentor (Illinois Institute of Technology CPM) certification from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
