Bart Geboers

Bart Geboers has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Bart started their career in 2013 as a Tissue Donor Screener at Nederlandse Transplantatie Stichting. Bart then interned at Antoni van Leeuwenhoek from 2016 to 2017. In 2017, they became a Resident Medical Officer (ANIOS) in Urology at Amsterdam UMC until 2018. At the same institution, they worked as a Resident Medical Officer, Research Fellow, and PhD Candidate in Interventional Radiology and Oncology from 2018 to 2020. During this time, they also served as a Local Host Committee member for the AMIOS - Amsterdam Multidisciplinary Interventional Oncology Symposium from 2018 to 2019. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Clinical Emergency Intervention at Equipe Zorgbedrijven. In 2020, Bart became a Urology Research Fellow at Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and in 2022, they started working as a Resident Medical Officer at St Vincent's Health Network Sydney.

Bart Geboers has a diverse education history spanning multiple institutions and fields of study. Bart began their academic journey at Rietveld Lyceum Gymnasium, where they completed their secondary school education from 2002 to 2009, focusing on physics and health sciences. Following this, they attended Leiden University from 2009 to 2011, obtaining a bachelor's degree in political sciences.

Bart's passion for medicine led him to the University of Amsterdam, where they pursued a bachelor's degree in medicine from 2010 to 2013. Bart then continued their medical studies at the same university, completing a master's degree in medicine from 2014 to 2017. During their master's program, they also undertook a research elective at the University of Colorado Denver, focusing on vascular and trauma surgery.

In 2017, Bart gained hands-on experience in tropical medicine through a clinical elective at Turiani Hospital in Tanzania. This opportunity further enriched their medical knowledge and practical skills.

In 2018, Bart embarked on a PhD course at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) with a specialization in interventional oncology, specifically studying Irreversible Electroporation and its immune system modulatory effects. As of April 2023, they are scheduled to defend their PhD thesis, having fulfilled the course requirements.

Aside from their main studies, Bart has also participated in various additional courses and programs to expand their knowledge. Bart completed the Advanced Flow Cytometry Course at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2019, delving into microscopy and cytometry core facility. Bart also attended the Fundamental Critical Care Support Course (FCCS) organized by the Dutch Society of Critical Care Medicine (NVIC) in the same year. Additionally, Bart pursued courses in regulation and organization for clinical investigators and clinical epidemiology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Bart further enhanced their expertise in electroporation-based technologies and treatments by undertaking a post-graduate school program at the University of Ljubljana in 2018.

Furthermore, in 2022, Bart successfully passed the Australian Medical Council MCQ Exam, demonstrating their strong grasp of medical knowledge.
