Project Coordinator, Cellular Genomics Platform at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Melissa Armstrong, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of medical research and cellular genomics. From 2016, they worked at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where they were initially a Research Assistant and later became a Technical Specialist-Flow Cytometry. In this role, they were trained in operating various analyzers and cell sorters, set up instruments, identified and troubleshooted issues. Additionally, they worked as a Project Coordinator, managing research projects in the Cellular Genomics Platform and communicating with customers to understand their project requirements.

Prior to their time at the Garvan Institute, Melissa worked at the University of New South Wales starting from 2009. During their time there, they pursued a PhD in developing novel anti-cancer drugs targeting the cells' cytoskeleton. This involved preclinical studies and in vitro assays. Melissa also gained project management skills and experience as a University Tutor and Practical Demonstrator.

Melissa Armstrong, PhD, completed their education in a chronological order. Melissa pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Wollongong from 2004 to 2008. During this time, they achieved a degree in Biotechnology with a focus on Cell Biology. Later, from 2011 to 2015, Melissa pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the University of New South Wales, specializing in the field of Medical Science.
