Nikolaj Nordkvist

Senior Staff Research Engineer, Localization at Gatik

Nikolaj Nordkvist has held various roles in the engineering and research fields since 2008. From 2008 to 2011, they were an Assistant Researcher and Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. During this time, they conducted research in state estimation, motion control, and nonlinear dynamic models for rigid body systems. From 2011 to 2014, they were an Instructor at Leeward Community College, teaching eight different physics and engineering courses each year. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Research Scientist at Numerica Corporation, working on projects in the areas of space situational awareness, sensor resource management, and multiple target tracking. From 2018 to 2020, they were an Aerospace Engineer - Control and Estimation at BLUE ORIGIN. Most recently, from 2020 to 2021, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Zendar, and from 2021 to 2022 they are a Staff Algorithms Engineer at Summer Robotics. Currently, they are a Staff Research Engineer, Controls at Gatik.

Nikolaj Nordkvist obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geometric Control from DTU - Technical University of Denmark between 2004 and 2008. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Mathematics from the same university between 1998 and 2004.
