GelSight seeks a Systems Engineer to help develop, build, and test new systems using a camera-based 3D measurement and tactile sensing technology. The primary focus of work will be assisting with the electrical design and verification of camera, illumination and communication systems along with prototyping and system integration. A second area of focus will be assisting with research and development, conducting experiments, documenting results and collaborating with other team members on design choices for new systems.

The ideal candidate has a skillset that spans several engineering disciplines, is eager to learn, and excited to participate in the development of new technology. The position requires on-site presence at GelSight headquarters (179 Bear Hill Rd, Waltham MA 02451) and reports to the SVP Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and evaluating opto-mechanical systems to assess imaging and measurement performance
  • Assisting in the design, assembly and evaluation of electronics for illumination, imaging and communication
  • Assisting in the definition of system architecture and interfaces between hardware, firmware and software
  • Coordinating different engineering disciplines to meet desired performance
  • Designing test plans, testing and verification of systems to engineering specifications
  • Supporting R&D efforts by executing experiments, analyzing and documenting results
  • Supporting other business efforts as requested by Senior Leadership Team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering
  • Proficient in PCB design software, such as Altium
  • Past experience with imaging systems and related electronics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
