Managing Director - gener8tor Conference Series

Location: Remote, US-Based

Salary: $130,000 - $150,000  

Description

gener8tor supports communities investing in their best and brightest via its venture capital funds and accelerator network. gener8tor is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious and results-oriented Managing Director of gener8tor Conference Series to lead the strategic planning, execution, and sales of our conference events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of planning, organizing, and executing our conferences annually. Ensure that each conference is well-executed and aligns with gener8tor’s and stakeholder’s goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with business development on a robust sales strategy for conference sponsorship, attendance, and partnerships to drive revenue for the conferences.
  • Meet sales, revenue, attendance and engagement goals; track progress; and make data-driven decisions to achieve them.
  • Own relationships with all presenting sponsors and stakeholders of the conferences. This may include members of our Corporate Innovation Network (CIN).
  • Collaborate with the CIN team and participate in relevant CIN events.
  • Create and execute strategies for developing and nurturing partnerships with a broader range of organizations, startups, and industry players.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for each conference, including speaker selection, and content. Ensure each conference is engaging and aligns with the latest industry trends.
  • Plan and manage the Conference Series budget, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and optimal resource allocation.
  • Manage the logistical and operational aspects of each conference, including venue selection, budget management, transportation and storage of conference equipment and supplies and on-site coordination. Oversee the execution of all logistics to guarantee a seamless experience for all attendees.
  • Attend all conferences annually, leading on-site operations and representing gener8tor with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Strategically integrate technology and innovation into event planning to enhance attendee experience, streamline operations, and leverage data for continuous improvement.
  • Lead post-conference analysis and feedback collection for ongoing improvement of future events, including test studies and testimonials.
  • Champion diversity and inclusion at conferences through strategic initiatives, including diverse speaker selection, outreach to underrepresented groups, and fostering inclusive partnerships.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and foster professional development through conferences, associations, and continuous learning initiatives.

Requirements

  • A highly sales-oriented and growth-minded professional who can drive revenue and foster partnerships.
  • Strong experience in event planning, logistics, and operations. A demonstrated ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to event execution.
  • A strategic thinker capable of planning and executing events that align with attendees needs and conference specifications.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to all conferences annually, leading on-site operations. Flexibility to travel up to 25%, which may include some nights and weekends.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team. A team-oriented leader who can motivate and inspire colleagues to achieve success.
  • Proficient in budget planning, management, and optimal resource allocation.
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends.
  • Enthusiastic about representing gener8tor at internal and external events.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter.
  • Collaborative, team-based mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly independent environment and juggle multiple ongoing projects, responsibilities and external relationships.
  • Willingness to intensively and rapidly dive deeper into the startup and venture capital communities even if already familiar. 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
