Atlanta, United States

Job description

Tech Lead - Good Agriculture

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Location: Atlanta (1/week in office), but will consider remote/outside of Atlanta for the right candidate

Salary: $80,000-$150,000 and 1-5% equity

Good Agriculture is hiring a Tech Lead!

Good Agriculture is an early-stage start-up supporting current & future regenerative farmers with business services so they can do what they do best: produce food that regenerates ecosystems and nourishes people. We are scaling the regenerative agriculture revolution, and our team makes an impact on our food system and our environment every day. We are backed by Terra Regenerative Capital, Techstars, SBIR, and the City of Atlanta, and are supported by ATDC.

We are seeking a talented full-stack engineer to design our architecture and tech stack, turn our MVPs into productionized software, and help us innovate new ways to support more farmers. Our immediate priorities are:

  • Building the foundation for the platform that will replace our MVPs and lay the groundwork for future products, including a flexible data layer and robust cybersecurity
  • Building v2.0 of our financial management product (including APIs to accounting softwares, automated data pipelines, and an analytics front-end for farmers), allowing us to serve hundreds of farmers each month
  • Prototyping a voice-to-text operational data collection and analysis tool for smaller farmers

Our ideal candidate has the following characteristics. Good Agriculture encourages you to apply even if you do not meet all of these characteristics but are excited to develop them:

  • Full-stack ability including developing front-ends/web apps/mobile apps, structured and unstructured databases and data lakes, API gateways, and microservices
  • Ability to design and implement tech architectures and build tech stacks (ours is currently a “white piece of paper,” and we want to intentionally balance immediate functionality with long-term flexibility and resilience)
  • Ability to develop multiple applications of AI (LLMs, structured machine learning, automation)
  • Excitement to work with farmers and in agriculture technology (and a strong focus on user experience)
  • Willingness to be “hands-on-keyboard” for the first year with the management experience to build the technical team as we grow
  • Excitement to be an early employee of an emerging startup and drive our long-term technology strategy

Good Agriculture is committed to creating an environment of shared prosperity, regeneration for our people as well as the environment, trust and openness, and continuous improvement in service to regenerative farmers. We are seeking the following characteristics in all candidates:

  • Passion for regenerative agriculture, sustainability, fighting climate change, resilient food systems, and/or developing rural economies
  • Excitement to learn from feedback, wrestle with challenging problems, and grow
  • Excellent team player abilities including open communication, enthusiasm to help when needed, and a strong sense of integrity
  • Commitment to our values and to cultivating those values as the technical team grows

This will be a hybrid position based in Atlanta, GA (we will make an exception for exceptional candidates). This will be a W-2 (employee) position. Good Agriculture offers competitive compensation including equity, a full benefits package, an excellent team culture, and a discount on our customers’ products (the best farm-fresh food you will ever eat). We will consider a Chief Technology Officer title for qualified candidates.
