Joanna MacEwan

Senior Director, Evidence Strategy at Genesis Research

Joanna MacEwan is the Senior Director of Evidence Strategy at Genesis Research. Joanna has over fifteen years of experience in economic research and policy analysis. Prior to joining Genesis Research, Joanna was a Senior Director at Precision Health Economics, where they managed a team of researchers and oversaw the design and execution of a portfolio of research projects for various stakeholders. Project types included cost benefit analysis, health outcomes research, and policy analysis, among others. Joanna has also worked as a Regulatory Economist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, evaluating the welfare effects of FDA regulations on consumers and producers of FDA regulated products. Prior to their work in the private sector, Joanna was a Postdoctoral Scholar and Associate Instructor at UC Davis, where they researched the links between agricultural research and development and obesity. Joanna has a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Davis.

Joanna MacEwan has a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in Agricultural Economics, Health Economics, Applied Economics, and Resource Economics from 2006-2011. Joanna also has a degree from UC Davis in Economics and Philosophy from 2003-2006 where they were a part of the UC Davis Honors Challenge Program and the Department of Economics Honors Thesis.
