Michael Bradfield

Michael Bradfield is a Senior Fermentation Engineer at Geno, where responsibilities include computational modeling and the scale-up of bioreactors for sustainable chemical production since October 2022. Previously, Michael served as a Senior Fermentation Engineer at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. from August 2020 to September 2022, and as a Fermentation Engineer at Zymergen, Inc. from April 2019 to July 2020, focusing on fermentation process development and scaling engineered strains. Michael's early career included a role as a Process Engineer at Hatch from March 2016 to January 2019 and as a PhD Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in late 2014. Michael holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pretoria, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in the same field.
