James Heller

James Heller has extensive experience in the field of geology, currently serving as Past Past-Chair of the Geology and Society Division at the Geological Society of America since October 2023. Heller's involvement with the Geological Society of America dates back to 2017, encompassing various leadership roles including Chair and First Vice-Chair of the Geology and Society Division, and participation in multiple committees. Heller also serves as a Member-at-Large on the AEG Licensure Committee for the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists since January 2018 and has been a geologist with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management since December 1995. Previous experience includes a position as Secretary/Treasurer for the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists. Heller holds a BA in Geological Sciences from Rutgers College and an MS in Geological Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
