Director of Product Design at Maple

Carmen Branje, PhD has a wealth of experience in product design, user experience, and teaching. In 2021, they were appointed Director of Product Design at Maple (getmaple.ca). Carmen has also been an Adjunct Professor at York University since 2019, University of Toronto since 2021, and University of Guelph-Humber since 2020. From 2019 to 2021, they were Senior Product Designer at Loblaw Digital, where they led the design team that successfully launched the Shoppers Drug Mart mobile app in the iOS and Android app stores. From 2019 to 2020, they were also an Adjunct Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University. From 2019 to 2016, they held various roles at QHR Technologies, including Design Lead and Senior UX/UI Research Designer. From 2016 to 2014, they were Senior Manager, User Experience Design and Development at Orbit Group Partners. Finally, from 2014 to 2019, they were Manager, Prototyping and User Experience Designer at RBC, where they designed experiences for mobile, tablet and online banking applications, and created wireframe documents and working prototypes.

Carmen Branje, PhD obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2014. Carmen previously obtained their Master of Management Science degree from the Ted Rogers MBA at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2008 and their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from Ryerson University in 2006.
