Rozemie Defrancq has a diverse work experience, starting in 2006 as a Researcher and Editor at Ghent University. From there, they worked as an Attorney at Law at Law Firm Advogent and Meritius, and later became a Lecturer at University College Ghent. In 2011, they transitioned to Acco Publishers as an Author and Instructional Designer. In 2017, they joined RedShelf as a Legal Counsel before moving on to Lightspeed Commerce as a Senior Legal Counsel and later as Assistant General Counsel & Head of Legal Europe. In 2022, Rozemie became the Director and Head of Global Legal Operations at Utopia Music. Rozemie then worked as a Legal Management Consultant at Level Up Legal and currently holds the position of Head of Legal at the Tech Transfer Office in Ghent University. Throughout their career, they have focused on maximizing the impact of in-house legal counsel, aligning legal work with business needs, and building scalable and efficient legal functions.

Rozemie Defrancq obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from Université de Namur in 2001. Rozemie then pursued a Master's degree in Law at Ghent University from 2001 to 2004. Following this, they completed a Master of Laws (LLM) in European Law at Ghent University from 2004 to 2005. Rozemie also attended Universidade de Coimbra in 2003-2004 for studies in Law. In 2006-2007, they obtained a degree in Teaching from Ghent University with a specialization in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration. Prior to their legal education, they studied Mathematics & Modern Languages at OLVE, Edegem from 1993 to 1999. Additionally, Rozemie has certifications in CIPP/US from IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals, as well as being certified as an In-house Legal Counsel by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2018. Rozemie also holds an IELTS (Academic English) certificate.
