Principal at ghSMART

Maggie Desmond is the current Principal at ghSMART. Maggie previously worked as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company from October 2015 to June 2019, where they led teams to serve clients on a range of strategic issues. As a core member of the firm’s Organization practice, they launched McKinsey’s Talent Wins campaign, developing a CEO playbook for putting talent at the heart of organizational strategy. In addition to delivering a range of public and pro bono social sector work, Desmond was selected as a McKinsey Global Institute Fellow, leading cutting edge research on economic inequality and the social contract in advanced economies.

Before their time at McKinsey & Company, Desmond worked as a Summer Associate at the company in June 2014 to August 2014. There, they collaborated in management of global pharmaceutical post-merger integration, facilitating client workshops, engaging with clients to capture cost and revenue synergies, and regularly analyzing and presenting client data.

Prior to that, they were an NTN Advocate at New Tech Network from January 2010 to April 2012. And before that, they were a Teacher and School Leader at Nanakuli New Tech High from July 2011 to June 2012 through Teach For America.

Maggie Desmond has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Education from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Relations and Affairs from The George Washington University.
