Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is looking for a driven, and result-oriented Information Technology (IT) professional to join the company as the Director of IT. This presents a great growth opportunity for a candidate looking to take ownership of an IT function.  The incumbent will be working with our CTO, SVP, Finance & Operations and our partners, to lead the growth of Giatec’s IT function by developing and executing a strategic IT roadmap, and several key IT projects.

The Director of IT will lead and manage the IT department, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of all IT services and infrastructure. This includes overseeing IT strategy, budgeting, systems management, cybersecurity, compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of current technology trends, the ability to align IT initiatives with business objectives, detailed knowledge of industry best practices, professional track record of effective technical management, information analysis, and a thorough understanding of computer hardware and software systems. You will be adept at managing multiple projects and priorities and an exceptional collaborator.

WHAT WILL YOU DO (including but not limited to):

  • IT Strategy, Process Design and Improvement

    • Develop and implement the IT strategy aligned with the company's goals.

    • Identify technology trends and evolving needs to drive digital transformation and innovation.

    • Align IT processes with business goals, develop IT roadmaps, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Collaborate with leadership to understand business requirements and ensure seamless technology solution integration cross departmentally to drive full realization of the features of the technology stack.

  • Budgeting and Cost Management

    • Develop and manage the IT budget, including monitoring and controlling expenditures to ensure cost-effective IT operations.

    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

    • Oversee the execution of IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

    • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT services and products (including SLA commitments) to maximize efficiency of IT spending.

  • Cybersecurity and Compliance

    • Develop and enforce IT security policies, protocols, and procedures.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

    • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability management; and, develop appropriate disaster recovery and business continuity plans and procedures.

  • User Support and Service Management

    • Oversee the IT helpdesk and ensure high levels of user satisfaction.

    • Implement and manage IT service management (ITSM) practices.

    • Ensure effective incident, problem, and change management.

  • Leadership and Management

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
    • Define IT departmental goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, and preferably at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, network administration and services in a high-tech environment.

  • Experience with cybersecurity software and services (e.g. Endpoint detection and response software). and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Experience in administrating Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.

  • Experience with cloud-based corporate and business applications (e.g. Salesforce, Netsuite, BambooHR, etc).

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities.

  • Proficiency in IT governance, risk management, and compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of current IT technologies and trends.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proactive, independent working style with desire and willingness to work and collaborate in a team environment while supporting business needs.

  • Flexible working hours - In this role, you will also become part of a cross functional team collaborating with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturers to deliver highest quality products to our customers.

  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM are a plus.
