Ross Wheeler

Vice President of Engineering at GitKraken

Ross Wheeler has an extensive work experience in the software engineering industry. Ross began their career in 1991 as the Founder, CEO, and VP of Software Engineering at Routerware. During their time there, they wrote many of the 30+ source code stacks and co-wrote/architected others. In 1997, they founded iVasion, a division of Routerware, and partnered with Redback Networks to create a world-leading Windows and Mac PPPoE (DSL) client. In 1999, they took on the role of CTO of the Networking BU at Wind River after the acquisition of RouterWare/iVasion. In 2001, they founded Doublewide Software/Accenia and raised $11M venture capital. In 2005, they restarted Paravirtual Corporation and bought intellectual property back from VCs. In 2015, they became Vice President of Software Engineering at A10 Networks and refactored, modularized, and modernized the monolithic codebase. In 2020, they took on the role of Senior Director of Software Engineering at Apstra, a startup focused on automation of the Data Center. In 2021, they became Senior Director of Software Engineering at Juniper Networks, adding DevSecOps and FIPS responsibilities to help with InfoSec and Federal requirements. Ross also began their role as Vice President of Engineering at GitKraken in 2021.

Ross Wheeler attended Trinity University, where they obtained a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Computer Engineering. Ross also attended the AEA/Stanford Executive Institute.
