Sofia Arend

Sofia Arend is the Global Blockchain Business Council's (GBBC) Director of Communications.

Prior to joining the GBBC, Sofia worked for the Atlantic Council, a top-ten global think tank for defense and national security, where she provided research and fact-checking support for a Google-supported report on the digital economy and US-EU collaboration. Sofia has also worked with top-twenty Fortune 500 companies at Emergo, a leading regulatory consulting firm specializing in global medical device and IVD compliance. At Emergo, Sofia helped clients bring products to market in Australia, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia.

Sofia received her BA in International Relations and Global Studies with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she competed as an NCAA Division-I recruited rower and graduated in three years as the student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Sofia is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and speaks fluent Spanish.
