Miles Sakwa-Novak

Vice President of Materials at Global Thermostat

Miles Sakwa-Novak has a diverse work experience in the fields of materials science and research & development. Miles began their career in 2010 as an intern at 3M's Corporate Materials Research Lab and the 3M ESPE Dental division. In 2011, they joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as a PHD candidate, where they focused on their research until 2015.

In 2015, Miles joined Global Thermostat as the Lead Scientist in the Research & Development department. In this role, they led a team of scientists and engineers in developing Direct Air Capture technology. Miles worked on various areas such as materials science, process research, mechanical prototyping, and equipment development. During their time at Global Thermostat, they also held the roles of Director of Research & Development and, most recently, Vice President of Materials. In these positions, they were responsible for managing partnerships with external technology funders, industry, academia, and government.

Miles Sakwa-Novak completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2007 to 2011. Following that, from 2011 to 2015, they pursued further education at the Georgia Institute of Technology where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering.
