Jo Alen

Jo Alen has a diverse work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry. They have held positions at various organizations, starting with their current role as Associate Director and Group Leader Medicinal Chemistry at Galapagos since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Team Leader at Galapagos from January 2021 to September 2022. Before joining Galapagos, Jo was an International Research Project Lead and Medicinal Chemist at Grünenthal Group from February 2018 to December 2020. They also served as the Head of Laboratory at Grünenthal Group from January 2016 to January 2018. Jo has prior experience as a Senior Scientist at Amakem NV from March 2011 to May 2016. They have also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at KU Leuven from 2009 to 2011, and at The Scripps Research Institute in 2009. Their earlier research experience includes being a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cape Town from 2007 to 2008, and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Stellenbosch in 2004.

Jo Alen has a PhD in Chemistry from KU Leuven.
