Rolf Barkmeijer

Principal Technician Analytical Development at Galapagos

Rolf Barkmeijer has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology. Rolf started their career as an intern at the Ankara University Biotechnology Institute, where they focused on microbiology techniques and cloning experiments. Later, they interned at the Erasmus MC, conducting research on immunohistochemical determination of prognostic markers in uveal melanoma. Rolf gained experience in PCR, sequencing, and immunohistochemistry during this internship. Rolf also completed internships at Intravacc, where they worked on cell culturing and stimulation assays, and at the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences, focusing on parasitology and utilizing flow cytometry and cell culturing techniques. More recently, they worked at Genmab, where they started as a Research Associate and later became a Senior Research Associate. Currently, Rolf is the Principal Technician Analytical Development at Galapagos.

Rolf Barkmeijer completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Cyto- and histopathology from Hogeschool Leiden in 2015. Rolf then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Immunology and infectious diseases from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and completed it in 2017.
