Leyla Akincilar has over fifteen years of experience in the education field. Leyla began their career in 2002 as an English Teacher at Charles Drew Middle School. In 2005, they joined the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Literacy Coach. In 2006, they became the Assistant Principal at KIPP Bay Area Schools, where they implemented their years of classroom experience and graduate education by creating and maintaining a culture of high expectations for students and staff. Leyla also planned and executed weeks of professional development for the staff at the beginning of three consecutive school years. In 2014, they joined EduCrate as a Content Manager and Community Outreach. Finally, in 2015, they became a Product Manager at Goalbook.
Leyla Akincilar received their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Emerson College in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from 1997 to 2001. Leyla then obtained their Master's Degree from National Louis University in Education from 2009 to 2010. In 2010, they obtained their California Teaching Credential Secondary English from the California Clear Credential in Administration. Finally, they received their California Clear Single Subjects Teaching Credential in English Language Arts from National University from 2003 to 2005.
