OVERVIEW

The College Ministry Coordinator will carry out the vision of caring for our college students through proactive care that connects each student to Grace while encouraging them to be involved in local fellowship on campus. S/he will capitalize on semester breaks and connect with students when they are back home.

ABOUT YOU

You are committed to fulfilling the mission and ministry goals of Grace Community Church by collaborating with staff, volunteer team members, and parents.  You have strong interpersonal skills expressed in the ability to shepherd and disciple college age students. You have great relational skills that are evident in the way you work with teams and disciple the next generation. Whether single or married, you minister uniquely out of your calling, finding both vision and boundaries in who God has called you to be.  

While you could work anywhere, using your gifts for God’s Kingdom gives you the most joy and fulfillment.  Most importantly, you believe the gospel is the most important message ever, so seeing it advanced and lived out in college student’s lives is of utmost importance to you. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Shepherd college-age students from Grace Community Church by creatively connecting with them periodically throughout the school year.

  • During the school year, develop, execute, and lead a weekly bible study for students attending local universities (i.e., HCC), or those not in college. Use this weekly context as an opportunity for discipleship.

  • During the summer, develop, execute, and lead a summer bible study, building fellowship and community among the group.

  • Provide an opportunity for college-age students to go to a winter conference/retreat together.

  • Participate with the Staff, Family Ministry and Student Ministry teams.

  • Work with the Pastor of Family Ministries to create a Milestone class for parents of college students.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills: Ability to connect with students, parents, volunteer team members, leaders, and staff.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and biblically, discipling college students in a world opposed to the gospel.

  • Planning/Organizing: Ability to design, plan, and organize events for college students.

SCHEDULE

  • 20 hours per week, while focusing on times that best work for students

  • 1x Per Week – Meet with the Pastor of Family Ministries

  • 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Meetings on Tuesday mornings

  • 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Prayer Pause

  • 1x Per Year – Participate in the All-Staff Retreat, typically in June

  • Christmas Eve + Easter Sunday Gatherings

  • Sunday attendance at both services

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to: Pastor of Family Ministries
  • Participates on the Grace Students team
  • Works Closely with the Grace Families staff
