The Quality Assurance Engineering Manager at Granicus works to build, develop, innovate, and retain a hard-working team of quality engineers and build an environment where they can thrive and succeed. In addition to our values a Quality Assurance Manager will champion practices such as test-driven and behavioral-driven development, knowledge sharing, collective code ownership, and a supportive learning environment. We are looking for a hand on talented leader in software quality engineering to take our capabilities in automation, tools, process, and effectiveness to the next level. This position will provide management leadership, technical leadership, and strategic direction to the quality engineering team. In this role, you will have an opportunity to improve quality and accelerate the delivery of critical quality work and be involved in all phases and layers of the application having a direct impact on the experience of millions of users. As a QE manager, you will lead a team of engineers focused on a breadth of technologies and applications including very highly scalable distributed applications.

What your impact will look like here:

  • Be responsible for career development of engineers within your group.
  • Perform employee management, including coaching, skills development, and performance assessment and management.
  • Help engineers identify areas for improvement, create plans to improve, and execute improvements.
  • Act as point person for hiring process for your level.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure process efficiency and improve current process.
  • You will work in a fast-paced software development environment and continuously enhance our automation infrastructure to move towards continuous deployment where every code change is thoroughly tested and considered ready to be deployed.
  • Focus on long term vision and ensure technical decisions work to enable Granicus’ future.
  • Ensure shared development team responsibilities are handled.

You will love this job if you have:

  • Minimum 15 years in Quality roles testing and automating large scale customer-facing systems with sophisticated distributed integrations.
  • 4+ years managing quality engineers.
  • Excellent knowledge of QE automation architecture, methodologies, processes, and tools.
  • Hands on experience in QE automation frameworks for both front-end and backend applications, such as Cucumber, Selenium, Rest Assured, TestNG, SOAPUI etc. Experience creating multiple test frameworks from scratch.
  • Experience in Java, Python or .Net, familiar with databases, SQL, and scripting languages.
  • Understanding of REST and RESTful services. Solid foundation in CS fundamentals with proficiencies in data structures, algorithms and software design preferred.
  • Ability to build, drive and support automation test strategy. Dedication to delivering great software and releasing it quickly, efficiently, and with growing quality.
  • Ability to act as a leader to: increase efficiency through process improvements and automation, increase test coverage through automation, reduce customer-impacting defects, make informed risk-based decisions, and improve chances of success and promote software testing standards and mentor engineers in the team
  • Expertise with continuous deployment systems using Maven, GIT, and Jenkins; define branching, tagging, and code merging strategies
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS, and Azure
  • Experience working with web accessibility (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to collaborate and influence multi-functional teams within your area of responsibility.
