John Taylor is a Director of Investment Banking Sales at Grata. John has over three years of experience in the private equity and venture capital industries. Prior to joining Grata, John was a Venture Fellow at VU Venture Partners, where they increased investors' returns and successfully reduced the firm's due diligence expenses by developing investment theses, reviewing pitch decks, and presenting top deals to Partners.
John has also held positions as an Account Manager at Mergermarket and Senior Account Executive at Gartner. In these roles, they were responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative deep due diligence ranging from market sizing and team capability, to term sheets and investment document review. John also fostered and strengthened strategic relationships with large networks across accelerators, VC / PE funds, and startup founders.
John began their career as a Sales Associate at Vineyard Vines before moving into the role of Assistant Editor - Synergy Insights Newsletter at Taylor Companies. In this role, they were responsible for tracking and sourcing 100+ investment opportunities within their first seven weeks and enhancing deal velocity in quantity and quality through their proprietary network and utilization of a structured approach to improving multiple deal flow channels.
John Taylor attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School from 2001-2007 and graduated Cum Laude. John was also involved in St. Andrew's Volunteer Efforts (S.A.V.E). John then attended Wake Forest University from 2007-2012 and obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
