Chris Black has worked in a variety of roles since 1999. Chris began their career as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Lone Star College in 1999. Chris then moved on to become the Director of Professional Services at Secure Data Solutions, Inc in 2001. In 2004, they took on the role of Senior Sales Engineer at Network Intelligence Corp. Chris then moved to Caymas Systems in 2006 as a Senior Systems Engineer, providing pre-sales support, post-sales implementation and support, and technical account management for the Central/Western region. In 2007, they joined Varonis, Inc. as a Senior Systems Engineer, building the TOLA region for a Data Governance startup software vendor and evangelizing the company to regional VAR/SI technical and sales staff. In 2009, they became a Principal Consultant at Kermit Security and Consulting. In 2010, they joined HP Enterprise Security as a Pre-sales Solutions Architect and Senior Sales Engineer, covering the Western U.S. and later the Southwestern U.S. after HP acquired ArcSight. In 2014, they moved to Intel Security as an Enterprise Security Architect. In 2016, they joined Anomali as a Sr. Sales Engineer, building the TOLA region for a Threat Intelligence Management Platform startup vendor and delivering demonstrations, presentations, and proof of concept engagements. Finally, in 2017, they joined Graylog, Inc. as a Senior Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer, Sr. Customer Support Engineer/Remote Consultant, and Utility Player, playing a variety of roles including support, documentation, marketing, pre-sales support, training, and professional services.

Chris Black obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Anthropology from Texas A&M University between 1988 and 1992. In December 2013, they earned a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)2.
