Melissa Darby has a diverse work experience in the field of marketing and strategic communications. Melissa started their career as a Gallery Sales & Marketing at Proud Camden in 2011, followed by a Marketing Intern role at Tate. Melissa then worked as a Marketing Assistant at Chelsea College of Art and Design before joining The British Museum as a Marketing Assistant/Social Media Manager. During their time at The British Museum, Melissa successfully implemented social media marketing campaigns and managed the museum's e-CRM and social media strategy. Melissa then moved on to the Barbican Centre as a Marketing Campaigns Lead, where they developed a marketing campaign for the Digital Revolution exhibition. Melissa also worked at Whitechapel Gallery as a Marketing Manager, leading a marketing team and working on the gallery's website launch. Melissa later joined The National Gallery as a Campaign Manager and eventually became a Senior Campaign Manager, leading large-scale marketing campaigns and collaborating with media partners and corporate sponsors. Currently, they are working at the Greater London Authority, where they have held positions such as Senior Campaign Lead and Deputy Head of Marketing and Strategic Communications. In these roles, Melissa has led various marketing campaigns, including those related to COVID-19 and Brexit, while also managing marketing work and budget planning for the strategic framework of making London fairer, safer, greener, and more prosperous.
Melissa Darby pursued their education by first completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Art History from The University of Manchester. Melissa attended this institution from 2007 to 2010. Later, Melissa pursued a Master of Arts degree in Media, Communications & Critical Practice at the University of the Arts London from 2011 to 2012.
