Saliem Fakir is an accomplished leader in environmental policy and management, currently serving as the Chairperson of the Board at Atlantis SEZ and the Executive Director of The African Climate Foundation. With extensive experience in various capacities, including Chair of the Board of Directors at GreenCape and Head of the Policy and Futures Unit at the World Wide Fund for Nature South Africa, Saliem has a proven track record in climate and energy strategies, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Previous roles include Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director at Stellenbosch School of Public Management, Executive Manager at Lereko Energy Pty Ltd., Country Director for the World Conservation Union in South Africa, and Programme Manager at the Land and Agriculture Policy Center. Saliem holds a Master in Environmental Science from Wye College London, completed an Executive Leadership and Management Course at Harvard University, and earned an Honours Degree in Molecular Biology from the University of the Witwatersrand.
