Perrin Baker

Director, New Technologies at Greenleaf Foods

Perrin Baker has a diverse background in research and development, with a focus on new technologies and biofilms. From 2020 to present, Perrin has worked as the Director of New Technologies at both Maple Leaf Foods Inc and Greenleaf Foods. Prior to this, Perrin served as the Director of Research and Development at Covalon Technologies Ltd. from October 2017 to January 2020. In addition to this role, Perrin also briefly worked as a New Technologies/Biomaterials Scientist at Covalon Technologies in 2017. Perrin's earlier experience includes serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hospital for Sick Children from May 2012 to June 2017, where their research focused on identifying the mechanisms of action of enzymes related to biofilm formation. Perrin also held the position of PhD Research Candidate at the University of Guelph from September 2007 to May 2012, during which they published 8 peer-reviewed publications and supervised undergraduate research students. They also served as a Graduate Laboratory Teaching Assistant during this time.

Perrin Baker completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Guelph between the years 2003 and 2007. Later, from 2007 to 2012, Perrin pursued higher studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology (Biochemistry) from the same university.
