Matthew Clay

Senior Research Scientist at Gregor Diagnostics

Matthew Clay has extensive work experience in the scientific field. Matthew started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Central Michigan University, where they assessed genetic variation in birds. Matthew then worked as a Research Associate at the University of Michigan Health System, focusing on identifying subpopulations of tumor-initiating cells in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinomas.

Matthew pursued their PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying neural crest cells and their role in vertebrate development and cancer behavior. Following their PhD, they became a Damon Runyon Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Duke University, investigating molecular mechanisms controlling cell invasion in nematode worms.

After their postdoctoral fellowship, Matthew joined CELLSCRIPT as a Senior Quality Control Scientist, responsible for developing and documenting QC assays for RNA transcription and therapeutic products. Matthew also participated in investigations, authored technical documents, and managed the quality management system.

From 2018 to 2021, Matthew worked as a Scientist III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, contributing to scientific research and projects. Currently, Matthew is a Senior Research Scientist at Gregor Diagnostics, where they likely continues to contribute their expertise.

Matthew Clay obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, General from Central Michigan University, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Later, they pursued their higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Matthew attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2007 to 2013.
