Jianming Li has worked in a variety of roles in the software engineering field since 2003. In 2003, they worked as a Research Investigator at NSF ERC-RMS, The University of Michigan, where they were in charge of design and implementation of a Quality Simulation System. In 2005, they worked as an Architect/Senior Software Engineer at DreamWorld, where they implemented graphics rendering with advanced texturing techniques and developed a skeleton-based character animation and AI module. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Software Engineer at Unisys Corporation and a Technical Consultant at Tianjin Suntar Suntory Technology. At Unisys, they contributed to the Character Recognition Software, while at Tianjin Suntar Suntory Technology they defined and developed a temperature monitoring system for a high temperature furnace. From 2010 to 2017, they worked at Razer Inc., Bellus3D, CA/uSens Inc. CA, and Avegant, respectively, as a Senior Software Engineer. At Razer, they were responsible for design and implementation of virtual input devices and its service, while at Avegant they implemented head tracking, hand tracking, and eye tracking. In 2019, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Medical Device at Terumo Heart, Inc., where they worked on Oct/Ivus/Angio sensors integration, 2D/3D rendering, GLSL shaders/image processing, video capturing and AVI/DICOM output. Currently, they are employed as a Principal Graphics Engineer and Senior Graphics Engineer at GridRaster Inc.

Jianming Li earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Manufacturing Engineering and Automation from Tsinghua University in 2000, followed by a Master's degree in Computer Graphics from the same university in 1989.
