Bimarsh Pokharel

Bimarsh Pokharel has worked in the IT field since 2008. Bimarsh started their career as a Software Engineer at Verisk Information Technologies Pvt. Ltd., formerly D2HawkeyeServices Pvt. Ltd., where they were involved in Data Warehouse implementation of US health insurance data based BI projects for US-based clients. In 2009, they moved to Nepal SBI Bank Ltd, Subsidiary of State Bank Of India, where they were an IT Officer (Software and Database). Bimarsh'sresponsibilities included developing MIS and BI solutions, and designing and developing various data pipelines using Python, SHELL scripts and Oracle PL/SQL script for different data mappings and transformation and for various financial calculations/reporting. In 2012, they joined Deerwalk Inc as Principal Engineer, where they worked as a Tech Lead on US health insurance data projects. Finally, in 2015, they joined GrowByData as Director of Product Engineering. In this role, they led the development of the company's core data platform serving multiple business lines, actively contributed to the product architecture, coached, mentored, and managed multiple agile teams, provided vision, leadership, and roadmap for the entire product engineering team, and got involved in planning and budgeting. Bimarsh also established and implemented software engineering best practices and established visibility via regular reporting to the executive management using industry-standard metrics.

Bimarsh Pokharel's education history includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Himalayan White House Int'l College between 2003 and 2007, and a Higher Secondary School in Science from Dhanusha Science Campus between 2000 and 2002. Bimarsh also holds various Coursera Verified Certificates, including Developing Data Products, Regression Models, Reproducible Research, Practical Machine Learning, Exploratory Data Analysis, Statistical Inference, Getting and Cleaning Data, R Programming, and The Data Scientist’s Toolbox, obtained between 2014 and 2015.
