Brian Nelson

Brian Nelson is currently the Senior Vice President & Chief Claims Officer at GuideOne Insurance. Brian has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on property and casualty claims.

Nelson began their career at Travelers in 2002 as a Field Product Line Manager. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing all claim activities related to workers compensation, general liability, and auto liability in the states of Iowa and Nebraska. Brian also served as the Director of Operations for the Des Moines office, where they were responsible for budgeting, facilities management, and talent recruitment and development initiatives for 120+ claim professionals.

In 2011, Nelson left Travelers to join Nationwide Insurance as an Associate Vice President. In this role, they were responsible for product quality trending and correction initiatives, as well as process improvement strategies that impacted pay out, investigations, subrogation, and litigation management. Brian also provided direction and technical guidance to the Claim Center Staff, and oversaw overall compensation planning and budgeting for the claim staff.

Nelson joined GuideOne Insurance in 2017. In their current role as Senior Vice President & Chief Claims Officer, they are responsible for manages all aspects of claims for the organization. This includes claim operations, field operations, special investigations unit, catastrophe response, fraud detection & prevention, and subrogation.

Brian Nelson has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Drake University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Northern Iowa.

They are on a team with Ken Cadematori - SVP & CFO, Andy Noga - Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer, and Rick Cullen - Senior Vice President, Programs. Brian Nelson reports to Jessica Snyder, President & Chief Executive Officer.
