Dan Thomas has a strong background in information security and privacy, with a particular focus on healthcare. Dan is currently the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Hallmark Cards since April 2020. Prior to that, they worked at SS&C Technologies as the Vice President of Information Security and Privacy, Chief Security Officer, and Chief Privacy Officer from April 2015 to February 2020. Dan also served as the Director of CyberSecurity and Healthcare at PwC from February 2014 to March 2015. Before transitioning to the private sector, Dan Thomas held various managerial roles in network systems and technology at companies such as VWR, Omnicare, Makino, Emerson, and Deloitte & Touche'. Dan also has military experience as a Captain and Communications Electronics Security Officer in the US Army from 1987 to 1990.

Dan Thomas has a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Xavier University, which they obtained between 1990 and 1993. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's of Science in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Xavier University. In addition to their formal education, Dan has obtained certifications in information privacy and security, including the CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) from the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) and the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) from (ISC)².
