Senior Visual Designer at Hallmark Cards

Karen Oatman has a diverse work experience in the design industry. Karen started their career at Hallmark Cards Inc. as a Creative Product Designer and Illustrator, where they worked for a decade. Karen then ventured into entrepreneurship and founded Kade Design and Little Bird Antiques, where they produced, designed, and sold vintage and original goods for children. Karen also provided original mural designs for public and private spaces, as well as worked on illustrations and designs for Hallmark Cards, EMP Studio, K&Co, and Nick Jr. Following this, Karen worked as an Art Director and Designer at Tri-D Innovations, where they designed and developed home decor items, jewelry, and books. Karen also had the opportunity to travel abroad and collaborate with vendors on product line development. Karen later established their own design company called KOatman Design, specializing in interior design and illustration. As an interior designer and illustrator, they created unique and inspiring spaces for both public and private clients, incorporating 3-D elements and painterly surfaces. Their services also included hand-painted furniture, custom artwork, and seamstress work. Karen also has previous experience working as an Art Director and Visual Merchandiser at Hallmark Cards.

Karen Oatman attended Fort Le Boeuf High School from 1981 to 1985. Karen then pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration and Advertising from Columbus College of Art & Design from 1985 to 1989.
