Mats Valfridsson

Mats Valfridsson has extensive work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Mats started their career at Chr. Hansen A/S as a Research Scientist, where they focused on selecting and improving strains of lactic acid bacteria for the dairy industry. Mats then moved on to BioGaia AB, where they worked as a Senior Scientist Microbiology, specializing in using Lactobacillus reuteri for probiotic applications. At Novozymes Biopharma AB, Mats worked as a Senior Scientist and project leader, responsible for pharma cell banking, microbial method validation, and technology transfer. Mats then joined Repligen Sweden AB as a Senior Specialist, QC, overseeing microbiology and molecular biology activities. Currently, Mats is employed at Hansa Biopharma, where they have held various roles, including CMC Manager, Director CMC Operations, and Senior Director CMC Operations. In these roles, they have been involved in drug development, specifically in enabling kidney transplantation and treating autoimmune diseases through Phase III clinical trials and market applications.

Mats Valfridsson completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from Lund University in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, and Biotechnology, spanning from 1987 to 1990. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree at Lund University with a specialization in Applied Microbiology, which was accomplished between 1990 and 1996.
