Manu Karppelin

Manu Karppelin has worked in a variety of roles since 1997. Manu began their career as a Summer Trainee at Nokia Networks in 1997. Manu then worked as a Mechanic at Tampereen Automaatiosähkö Oy in 2001, a Sound Designer and Sound Technician at Tampereen Komediateatteri Oy in 2004, an AV-Mechanic at Sähkötaso Esitystekniikka Oy in 2005, a CEO/Producer at Mozifilm Productions Oy in 2007, a Journalist/Videographer/Editor (Freelancer) at Yle in 2008, a Station Manager at Radio Classic at gbtimes in 2008, a Co-Founder, CEO/Product Owner at Hiddme Oy in 2015, and finally a Head of Product Management, Product Owner, and Business Services Project Manager/Team Lead at HappyOrNot from 2017 onwards. In these roles, Manu Karppelin has been responsible for product management and its activities, product strategy, roadmap, prioritization, design thinking, software and hardware development, digital marketing, web/app development, IT procurement process, budgeting, digital signage solutions, WordPress, Salesforce, G-Suite & Office365, PowerBi, Atlassian, Confluence, Jira, product owner, road mapping, UX/UI & graphic design, business operations, growth hacking, P&L, sales & marketing, radio program planning and production, team leadership, reporting to various stakeholders, studio & broadcast system specification and implementation, radio ad writing & speaking, and more.

Manu Karppelin has a diverse educational background. Manu obtained a Master of Culture and Arts from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2013, where their field of study was Media Product Development, Management and Business Operations. Manu also obtained a Bachelor of Culture and Arts from the same university in 2007, with a focus on Media production and AV-technology. In 2003, they obtained a Basic studies degree from Voionmaa Institute in Radio work and journalistic. Manu Karppelin also has a Vocational Qualification from Nokia Vocational School in Electrical Engineering and Automation Technology, which they obtained in 2000. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including a Scrum Product Owner Certification from ICAN Consultancy in 2019, Foundations of Virtual Facilitation from Grape People Finland Oy in 2018, and a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance in 2021.
