Virtual Reality Software Engineer at HaptX

Peyton Lee has a diverse work experience in the fields of virtual reality, robotics, and marine science. In 2017, they interned at foundry10, where they developed Bycatch-22, a virtual reality game built for the HTC Vive. From 2018 to 2021, they were the President and ROV Pilot of the Underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (UWROV) Team at the University of Washington, where they updated control systems for a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) and completed computer vision competition tasks. In 2019, they interned at the Ocean Exploration Trust, acting as a data logger onboard the E/V Nautilus and assisting in the documentation, collection, and preservation of biological and geologic samples. Peyton also worked as Design Manager and Pit Crew for the Newport HS Robotics Group in 2017. In 2021, they interned at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where they developed an automated testing framework in Python for load-testing Nitro components. Lastly, in 2020, they interned at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), creating a video benchmark for evaluating tracking algorithm performance on seafloor footage. In 2022, they worked at HaptX Inc. as a Virtual Reality Software Engineer, curating an open-source computer vision dataset and building a UI for detecting, tracking, and identifying deep-sea creatures.

Peyton Lee attended Newport Senior High School from 2014 to 2018, where they obtained their High School Diploma. Peyton then went on to the University of Washington, where they are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences.
