Chief Technology Officer at Harmony Helper

Michael Holroyd has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. From 2008 to 2011 they were an Independent Software Consultant at Brolik Productions, Inc., where they advised on high-level software design and architecture for web-based projects. In 2011, they began working at Arqball as the Director and Chief Research Scientist, where they were Principal Investigator for several NSF-funded research grants and lead developer for their implementation into successfully commercialized software products. Michael also acted as Director at Arqspin in 2011. In 2012, they became a Guest Lecturer at the University of Virginia and Cofounder of Knollop. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Research Consultant at Disney Research, where they worked on fabricating objects from digital models. This work resulted in one patent and a publication at SIGGRAPH Asia 2011. In 2014, they became Cofounder of Learnstream.com and CTO and Cofounder of SceneThink. In 2015, they began working as a Visiting Professor at Northeastern University. Finally, in 2017, they became Chief Technology Officer at Harmony Helper, where they help professional and amateur vocalists learn to sing with confidence.

Michael Holroyd has a diverse educational background. Michael obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics from William & Mary between 2002 and 2006. In 2006, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science at the University of Virginia, which they completed in 2011. Additionally, Michael Holroyd has obtained various certifications from a range of institutions, including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the American Heart Association, the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads, and the Virginia Department of Health. These certifications include an Instrument Rating, Vehicle Rescue Operations, Search Team Signcutter, Search Team Leader, Search Team Member, Private Pilot, CPR & AED, Vertical Rescue Technician Level 3, FAA Medical Certificate - 3rd Class, and EMT-B.
