Location(s): Multiple positions in Asheville, Charlotte, NC and Greenville, Charleston, Conway, SC

Summary/Objective: Promotes the company mission statement by participating in the work of a crew performing underground and above ground pipe installation, concrete forming/pouring/finishing, heavy equipment operation, and process equipment installation.

Essential Functions:

  • PIPE INSTALLATION: Basic pipe installation including bolting up pipe, gluing pipe, measuring, and cutting pipe, tightening, or torquing bolts, checking gaskets, checking pipe alignment, testing pipe for leaks.

    • Identify fittings and pipe types.
    • Prep pipe for assembly.
    • Prep tools for the specific type and task.
  • TOOL USAGE: Able to use a variety of power tools and gas equipment, such as drills, impact wrenches, skill saw, gas saw, etc.

    • Inspect tools and use proper PPE for each type.
  • PIPE HANGER, SUPPORTS INSTALLATION: Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand or power tools.

    • Identify material types.
  • PROCESS EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION: Install, align, set, and start up process equipment associated with our projects.

    • Understand associated hardware and tools to be present for the task.
  • MISC METAL INSTALLATION: Install miscellaneous metals, such as handrail, grating, pipe hangers, supports, minor sheeting, weirs, etc.

    • Prep material in front of installations.
  • SITE WORK AND EXCAVATIONS: May be required to use shovels, rakes, and tools necessary to dig, backfill, grade site conditions.

    • Install trench barricades, repair erosion control, housekeeping material.
    • May be required to get specified type of lumber or other materials and be able to identify material required for task at hand.
  • BASIC LAYOUT: Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using a pencil, chalk, and marking gage.

    • Understand plumb, level, square.
  • FORM WORK: Construct forms as instructed by supervisor both job built and form systems for pouring concrete.

    • Understand fall protection and overhead work.
  • SCAFFOLD ERECTION: Erect scaffolding and ladders for work above the ground level.

  • EQUIPMENT OPERATOR: Not required but would be beneficial if identified as a proficient operator.

  • TRANSPORTATION: Applicants must have reliable transportation to get to assigned projects. This includes ensuing punctuality and the ability to commute to various locations as required by the position. Access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Work Environment:

This position is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Exposure to weather, heat, etc. is expected.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.

Travel Required:

Minimal travel required. Occasional errands or company meetings may be needed. Employee will have access to the company flex vehicle if available.
