Ben Auffarth

Ben Auffarth has a diverse range of work experience in the field of data science and machine learning. Their most recent position was as a Lead Data Scientist at Hastings Direct starting in 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Data Science at loveholidays from 2020 to 2023, where they established projects and built the data science team. From 2018 to 2020, Ben was a Lead Data Scientist at Oleeo, providing support for companies in making hiring decisions and working on machine learning integrations. Ben also worked as a Data Scientist at MYJAR from 2015 to 2018, where they built machine learning models and led a transformation project. Additionally, they have experience as a Data Scientist/Programmer at Smarkets, a Marie Curie Research Fellow at F.O.R.T.H., a Postdoctoral Associate at Freie Universität Berlin, a Phd student at KTH, CSC, a Machine Learning Engineer/Research Engineer at KTH, CBN, and a Research Assistant at the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia.

Ben Auffarth has a diverse education history. Ben started with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science from Universität Osnabrück in 2006. In the following years, they pursued further education including a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from Universitat de Barcelona in 2007.

To further expand their language skills, they studied the Swedish language at SFI in 2011 and the Catalan language at Generalitat de Barcelona in 2008. Additionally, they explored Turkish language and literature at Tömer Ankara in 2003.

In terms of their professional qualifications, Ben obtained a Prince2 Practitioners certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2016.

Finally, they completed their academic journey with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2012.
