John Dotson

John Dotson is currently the SVP & General Counsel at HDT Global. Prior to this, they worked as Managing (General) Counsel - Enterprise Contracts at Chevron from June 2015 to November 2020. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of Chevron's Technology Projects and Services (TPS) division, including investigations, disputes, and claims. John also chaired the TPS Investigations Governance Board and was a member of the TPS Leadership Team.

Dotson has extensive international experience, having advised business leaders on projects in Kazakhstan, Angola, Australia, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Nigeria, Brazil, China, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

From September 2011 to June 2015, Dotson served as Managing (General) Counsel - Greater Gulf of Mexico at Chevron. In this role, they were responsible for all legal aspects of Chevron's operations in the Gulf of Mexico region.

John Dotson has an AB in Economics from Harvard University and a JD from the University of Southern California. John is certified by Pepperdine Caruso Law in Mediating the Litigated Case with Straus Institute, and by the Texas Supreme Court; NY State Board of Law Examiners; Colorado Supreme Court; and Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers in Member of Bars of Texas, New York, Colorado and Massachusetts. John is also certified by Occupational Safety Training, Inc. in Water Survival/Helicopter Underwater Escape Training.

John Dotson reports to Juan A. Navarro, President & CEO. They work with Steve Stasiak - VP, Supply Chain & Continuous Improvement, Greg Miller - SVP, Marketing & Strategy, and Carl Pates - SVP, Engineering & CTO.
