Cultural Competency & Inclusion Manager at Head Start for Kent County

Natasha Brown is the Cultural Competency & Inclusion Manager at Head Start for Kent County. Natasha has previously worked as a New School Development Associate for National Heritage Academies and as a Housing Counselor for Community Link NC.

Natasha has a passion for helping others and creating opportunities for growth and development. As a New School Development Associate, they were responsible for researching new markets, community outreach, developing relationships with new partner school boards, drafting charter applications, and project management.

As a Housing Counselor, Natasha helped homeowners stabilize their finances and mortgage payment through education, awareness and proactive involvement. Natasha acted as a mediator, advocator and liaison between the homeowner and mortgage lender. Natasha also created an action plan for the homeowner with instructions and a timeline of the workout process. In addition, they facilitated North Carolina’s Hardest Hit Funds through educational workshops, counseling, reviewing qualifications for funding, submitting applications for assistance and closing on approved loans.

Natasha’s experience in both the public and private sector has given their a well-rounded perspective that they bring to their current role as Cultural Competency & Inclusion Manager at Head Start for Kent County. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the organization’s efforts to promote inclusion and cultural competence among staff, families and participants.

Natasha Brown has a Masters in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Natasha is also certified in Cultural Intelligence from the Cultural Intelligence Center.
