Barnabas Kui is the vice president and controller of Hearst. Previously, he served as the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Hearst Newspapers. In this role, Kui oversaw all accounting and finance functions of the newspaper division. Hearst Newspapers, with more than 3,000 employees around the nation, publishes 24 dailies and 52 weeklies, reaching more than 42 million unique visitors across the U.S. with related mobile websites and digital products in cities including Houston, San Francisco, San Antonio and Albany.
Formerly, Kui served as Hearst Newspapers’ vice president of finance and as director of accounting and financial reporting. Prior to joining Hearst, he was a senior manager in Ernst & Young’s New York City office, where he audited global companies in the media, entertainment, technology, financial services and energy industries. He started his career with Arthur Andersen LLP.
Kui graduated summa cum laude from Pace University, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the AICPA and the New York State Society of CPAs. Kui is a graduate of the Hearst Management Institute, Hearst’s executive development program.
