Bastian Rieck

Principal Investigator at Helmholtz Munich

Bastian Rieck has a diverse work experience spanning various research and technical roles. Most recently, they are serving as a Principal Investigator at Helmholtz Munich and a Junior Fellow at the Technical University of Munich, both starting in 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Assistant and Postdoctoral Researcher at ETH Zurich from 2018 to 2021. Bastian also gained experience as a Senior Researcher at Heidelberg University in 2017, where they collaborated on interim projects. From 2015 to 2017, Bastian served as a Researcher at the University of Kaiserslautern. Earlier in their career, they were a Ph.D. Student at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing at Heidelberg University from 2011 to 2017. Additionally, they gained practical experience as a Student Trainee for Software Quality Management at SAP from 2007 to 2010 and as a Student Worker for Systems and Network Administration at the Heidelberg Center for American Studies from 2005 to 2007.

Bastian Rieck holds a PhD in Computer Science from Heidelberg University, which they obtained between 2011 and 2017. Bastian also earned a Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the same institution between 2005 and 2011. Additionally, Bastian Rieck has obtained several certifications in the field of Deep Learning and Machine Learning from Coursera.
