Michael Mansfield has held a variety of roles in the aviation industry since 1998. Michael began their career with the Royal Air Force as a Senior Electrical/Avionics Engineer and Flight Operations Engineering Manager. In 2002, they joined BAE Systems as a Senior Flight Test Engineer, where they acted as Test Director and planned and specified trials for insertion into the overall four-nation Flight Test Program. In 2004, they moved to Bombardier Aerospace as Chief Flight Test Engineer & Deputy Manager Flight Operations, Flight Test Team Manager, and Project Flight Test Engineer, where they amassed 500 Flight Hours between platforms. In 2017, they joined Northrop Grumman as Flight Test Engineering Lead. In 2021, they joined Hermeus as Director of Flight Test Engineering, Boeing as C-17 DEA Lead Engineer, and Aerion Supersonic as Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering.
Michael Mansfield obtained a National Diploma in Avionics Engineering from the Business and Technology Education Council in October 1983. In March 1991, they received an Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance certification from City & Guilds. From 1993 to 1997, they attended The Open University, where they earned a BSc(Hons) in Computer Science and Systems Engineering. In 2004, they attended the National Test Pilot School. In 2008, they earned a Master of Business Administration from Wichita State University, with a focus in Business Administration and Management.
